List of the accompanied goods of visitors that should be registered by the customs office
1.Personal jewelry, one camera, one nonprofessional video camera, one eye camera, one portable musical instrument, one radio and mobile music player and recorder, one portable personal computer, first aid box, one tent for camping and related tools, sports equipment such as equipment for fishing, skiing, and hunting.
2. Export of one kilogram of caviar sealed by Shilat Company and bought from Shilat market located at the airport is allowed
3. Tourists are allowed to bring out handicrafts or permitted products of the country in addition to their goods provided that they wouldn’t be for commercial purposes.
Forbidden goods for export and import
Import and export of some goods are generally forbidden.
Some of these goods are as follows:
1- Alcoholic drinks
2- Gambling tools
3- Weapons, ammunition and explosive products
4- Narcotic drugs
5- Import of domestic animals and birds is subject to presenting hygiene certificate of the country of origin and approval of the veterinary organization of Iran and their export is subject to presenting hygiene certificate of veterinary organization of Iran.
6- Import and export of wild animals and birds are subject to present the license of Iran department of environment.
7- Import and export of counterfeit goods are forbidden.
8- Import and release of plants (twig, shrub, flower) and seeds are subject to present permit of plant quarantine.
9- Import and release of live fish are subject to permit the ministry of agriculture.
10- Import of medicines is allowed only for personal usage and at low volume, more volume is subject to obtaining legal permits and payment of import duties and taxes.
11- Import of cigarette for every passenger is allowed for the amount of one box equal to 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars. The allowed amount of tobacco for each passenger is 250 grams.
Artworks and antiques
Exporting antiques, original artworks, handwritten books, and printed stones, calligraphies, miniature paintings, precious coins and all kinds of historical objects and cultural heritage are forbidden.
Carpet and kilim
Each passenger is allowed to take up to 20 square meters of hand-woven carpet out of the country, and there is no limit to the numbers of carpets. Taking precious carpets with historical worth which can be regarded as cultural heritage is completely forbidden.
Pilgrims with a destination of holy places and shrines like Iraq, Syria and Saudi Arabia are not allowed to bring carpets out of the country.
Nuts
Each passenger is allowed to take different kinds of nuts out of the country provided that the amounts shouldn’t be considered as commercial. Taking pistachio, nuts, and saffron out of the state is forbidden for pilgrims leaving the country for a destination of holy places.
NOTE:
Each passenger can bring 10 kilograms of nuts and 100 grams of saffron out of the country, and this amount is allowed for each passport
Green Channel
Those passengers can pass the green channel who:
a) Do not have the following goods:
- Arms and ammunition
- Disks, audio/video tapes
- Books and magazines against the Islamic and national beliefs of the country
- Wireless telephone and transmitter
- Seed and cutting, flower bulb
- Gambling tools
- Alcoholic drinks
- Narcotics
b)Have the first travel in the current year or have not used the passenger exemption on their previous trips.
c) Do not have business goods and the value of their new goods do not exceed 80 dollars for each person
The green channel does not mean that the customs do not perform the inspection of goods. The customs officers can select some of the passengers of green channel and inspect their goods. If they do not have the requirements for passing through this channel, their declaration will be illegal, and their goods will be considered as smuggling.
Temporary admission of the automobile for passengers
Tourists, foreign passengers or Iranians residing abroad at least for one year, the last six months uninterrupted, can import their motor vehicles while traveling to Iran provided that they obtain a passing permit from touring clubs or national Automobile Association of the origin country which is called Carnet de Passage or triptyque or booklet.
Passengers mentioned above can use their automobile inside Iran at most for 3 months and it is possible for them to exit and enter the country via allowed borders several times
